New Ways of Persecution

September 22, 2012, Naguib Gabriel, the head of the Egyptian Federation of Human Rights, said that Christians were discouraged from attending their churches in Egypt. The government uses different methods to accomplish this task, and the most recent one is giving traffic and parking violation tickets to all the cars in front of a church while the service is going on. Last Sunday, Christians came out of one of the big churches in Heliopolis, Cairo to find almost all the cars were issued tickets with notifications left on the windshield. Gabriel explained that there has been considerable anger and numerous complaints from the many car owners who found these tickets on their cars, especially considering this is something that does not happen to any cars that belong to people attending prayer meetings in mosques on Fridays.
